Dr. Sam Tsang is a graduate of Western Seminary with his MDiv and MA Exegetical Theology.  He went on to earn his Ph.D. from the University of Sheffield Biblical Studies Dpt. when the dpt. (ranked number 1 in the UK at the time he studied).  He taught New Testament and preaching in Overseas Theological Seminary, a California-based Chinese-speaking seminary, and will continue to teach in Hong Kong Baptist Theological Seminary New Testament Dpt. from undergrads to ThM., in subjects ranging from New Testament criticism and intepretation to preaching.  His published dissertation From Slaves to Sons focuses on the slave metaphor in Galatians, and will be translated and published in Chinese and Indonesian soon.  Due to his ability to communicate in fluent English, Cantonese and Mandarin as well as his passion to make simple complex academic concepts, his preaching and teaching ministries have brought him to Italy, England, South Africa, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Singapore, all over Canada and the US.  His publishing interests range from most of Paul's letters, John's Gospel, Sermon on the Mount, some Old Testament narratives, Revelation, preaching and most recently Luke-Acts.  His first book which is on characterization in John'sGospel won him 3rd place in the prestigious 2007 Hong Kong Golden Medallion Prize for contribution in Bible and theology, and his other book on Revelation has been nominated again in 2009.  By the end of 2009, he would have published twenty odd books on the above topics. His other passion is to see Christians of different ethnicities and backgrounds come together in community of worship.  He further demonstrated his conviction by hosting two Institute for the Study of Asian American Christianity conferences while acting as the Vice President of OTS.  He feels that greater understanding between generations, denominations, and ethnicities is key to realizing God's vision for the living Church.  He hopes that his ministry can take greater leadership role in this area.  In his little leisure time between writing, travels and teaching, he enjoys time with the family and keeps himself fit by his favorite athletic activities of weight training, soccer and various martial arts.  Feel free to contact him for speaking engagement by contacting us or at samtsang@hkbts.edu.hk.
